…for being virtually the only member of the Met police committed to tackling the worst kinds of crimes against children in our capital city, over 25 years of service as a detective at the force’s headquarters at Scotland Yard. And continuing in retirement to work in this area off your own resources. And refusing ever to give up on the children, whatever is thrown at you, threats, defamation, arrests, attacks on your own family…
It was an honour to be in the audience listening to you on 9th February in Pimlico and I know I speak for all of us who were deeply moved by what you told us of your efforts over many years to rescue the youngest and most vulnerable at the bottom of the social heap; far too many trapped in cults, gangs and rings and constantly being preyed upon by sexual predators, psychopaths and devil-worshippers. Few have as much experience or knowledge of this horribly dark area of our national life as you, or as much raw courage to go in over and over again where most would fear to tread, including fellow members of the police.
You put it down quite simply to your Christian faith. But how many attending churches today actually live the life for real, as you do?
